Remember me??

I can hardly believe that it has been a month that I last blogged here.
There's a lot going on in the Emert house outside of football, which is only just about to start back up for us soon! The Coach has a clinic coming up and then next week spring practice will start again. We are definitely looking forward to another exciting Tornado football season.

But....
What else is going on??

The Coach turned 36 on Feb. 21. We celebrated by hanging out at home and having some of this..

I turned 33 on Tuesday and my awesome husband made me the most thoughtful of gifts...
It's a plaque to hold my race bibs and medals from any half marathons (4 so far) I run. It will also be the holding place for the medal from my first full marathon (26.2 miles!!) next month. This explains a bit where I have been and my lack of blogging here.
I started training this year for the marathon and that takes up a lot of my free time (aside from the fact that I am mom, wife, GS Troop leader and work full time away from home). I've been keeping up with blogging about that (and my continued weight loss) over on my other blog. I'd love for you to follow me there at Just Another Mom on the Run. I think I will actually be taking all of my blogging over there once I can get everything together.

So, if you've followed along here all these years and want to continue following please visit my other blog as I will be slowly making the transition to also adding this part of my life in blog to that part.I won't deactivate here until I merge this with the other blog. If anyone has any tips on how to combine the two that would be great... as you all know I am not that tech savvy and if you really  know me you know I can't stand reading "manuals" and directions a lot. lol

Anyway, I hope you are all well and again thanks for following along. I am still here and alive and well. So are the kids! In fact, Mr. Peanut has a big birthday this weekend. I can hardly believe that my baby boy is going to be a big 6 year old! We've been going silly this week trying to get ready for his party on Saturday. He is very excited to take a treat to Kindergarten tomorrow and then have a bowling party with friends.
We had a date earlier this month. I'm glad my "baby" boy still likes hanging out one on one with his mama. :)

Annabelle is great too. However, we have suffered our first broken bone. She was pushed off a swing at school during recess a week ago. Being the great mom I am, I ignored her "girl drama" Thursday evening when she got home and we agreed that if she still had trouble the next morning we would head to the dr. Sure enough she had problems. AND sure enough they told us her arm was broken! Yikes.
She is doing great though and the arm (after a week) seems to finally feel better. That pretty pink cast is no longer clean and cute. Nope, that didn't last past the afternoon when she got it! It's now full of signatures from everyone she knows! Thankfully she only has about 2 more weeks in it before we go back to the orthopedic dr to have it taken off and another x-ray to check the arm.

Soooo...
I believe that does it for the excitement at the Emert's house! Remember, for more on me and what's going on here be sure to follow me at my other blog (link above and in my side bar) as I will be gradually moving this blog over there as well and go back to one blog.

Be blessed friends!

Saturday Fun with my Girl

My girl and I went with our Girl Scout troop ice skating on Saturday night. I have not ice skated in at least 10 years and it was Annabelle's first time ever. At first non of the other moms were going to skate either and I was bummed so I was like, "boo hisss I think I will pitch a fit until they all skate with me."  Thankfully I did not have to go to such extremes and all it took to get me to rent skates was Annabelle just asking nicely if I would skate too. Of course mama did just that.

We had a great time. Annabelle hung the wall most of the evening. I admit to doing my fair share of wall hugging for at least the first 15 minutes too. I got brave and actually let go of the wall more than Annabelle did. She was content in the kiddie area with the little walkers though. We probably were at the rink for about 2 hours but the Zamboni did it's business twice while we were there so my estimated skate time is like 1.5 hours. I used that as my exercise for the day. haha

Holding on to the wall for dear life!
Now she's getting brave!

The funniest part of the night was when I was skating by the kiddie area and Annabelle was using one of the kiddie walkers. She was so proud and started going faster. Then this happened...

I couldn't help but giggle a little. Of course my girl was mad at me for that. But what came next really had me rolling. "Mommmmmm, stop laughing at me you know my butt is very fragile!!" I was laughing to the point that I thought I was going to wet my pants. I'm a horrible, mean, no good mom for this... I know, but really you had to be there. She was helped up and then we were happy and having fun again.

Skating with big smiles!

A few more times around the rink and we were all pretty tired. We had had dinner before but of course skating makes little girls crave snacks. We were told the hot chocolate at the rink wasn't very impressive so Annabelle asked if we could stop for some on the way home. Starbucks here we come!!! We even treated ourselves to a yummy cake pop.

And that's how my girl and I have fun on a Saturday night!!

And the best part, in case I didn't mention it already... I did NOT fall down. This was a huge feat for me because my biggest concern was the fact that I run and ice skating is not my best game. Knowing I had a couple half marathons and a full on my schedule this year (AND a 10 mile run on Sunday) coming up I knew I just could not fall because I didn't need a silly ice skating injury putting a damper on my training. So, YAY for not falling. :)

Tuesday Tidbits

~ Ugh, home girl is sick. It started Saturday night. It got worse Sunday. Yesterday was better. I took anything from regular old, red Sudafed to DayQuil capsules and even ClaritinD. I thought maybe I was getting better since everything was just running clear. Then my worst nightmare happened. Last night around 1:41 am it got way worse. I woke up, woke the Coach up and begged him to make my left ear stop hurting. He found some ear numbing drops from September and put those in my ear. I tried to go back to sleep and must have but 2 hours later the pain returned, much worse. I laid there debating on whether or not to wake him up. I laid there thinking about how when I was young and had these types of ear aches my  mom would rock me and put a towel over my  head then rub the iron (yes, hot iron) over the towel. The heat and pressure felt so good. I didn't wan to wake the Coach up so I laid there, put more drops in my own ear, cursed the darn drops for lying about numbing my ear and all I really wanted was my mommy to rock me and take away the pain. LOL Not really. I just wanted to sleep pain free. I considered a drive to the ER but who the heck goes to the ER or an ear ache!? Anyway, I went to the dr today and quickly said YES when I was offered a shot in the butt. Here's to hoping tomorrow is a better day.. my legs desire a run!

~ I am loving Chick Fil A's grilled nuggets. I'm not sure why they didn't think of this before now?! We went to our local CFA for dinner tonight. Once in a while they will do a kids eat free night and you can bet the Emerts are all over that. Anyway, yes, I DO order the grilled nuggets with fries and a Diet Coke. The first time I did this the girl was like, really!? lol Yep. Really. Had i gotten regular nuggets I would most likely not have gotten fries. Anyway, all that to say.. the grilled nuggets are great. It's pretty much the same thing as a grilled chicken sandwich, minus the bun and cut in small pieces.

~ Yesterday at work I went through an entire box of Puffs Plus tissues. Seriously, the whole box. My awesome husband went out last night to buy me more. He bought FOUR boxes. Thankfully I have not needed quite so many today. My nose was beginning to look a little Rudolph-ish. Not a pretty look. ;)

~ Pass the craptastic Mom award my way. A week or so ago the kids brought home forms regarding class picture day. I filled out the sheets but didn't send them in right away because I knew I still had time. Well, yesterday came. My kids went to school in less than cute clothes. Meaning they weren't dressed FOR pictures. Ugh. Yesterday was class picture day. Not only were my kids NOT dressed like I had planned but I also did not send in the forms and money. So sad. Peanut keeps telling me I still can. Tomorrow I am sending it in and hoping I can at least get his class picture since it's Kindergarten and all. I will be crushed to not have that. I mean what would my over crowded kitchen drawer do without Peanut's 1st class picture from big school!? haha

~ It's Girl Scout cookie time. Make sure you find your favorite local Girl Scout and place your order! You're doing a great thing when you pay $$$ for those delicious goodies. :)

Friday Date Night

Friday night my Sweet Belle had a sleepover with her bff. The Coach had a sleep study, which I have been begging him for at least the last (almost) 10 years to have done. And me? Well, my Peanut and I had a date night.
First, we were lucky enough to have Daddy meet us for dinner. I let Peanut pick. I thought he would say Chickfila (his usual) but instead he picked Mexican. Yummmm. I filled myself on chips and salsa and then we shared a plate of chicken fajita nachos, veggies on the side. The way this works is Peanut eats most of the chicken while I have a few chips with the veggies. lol  Anyway, Daddy snapped this pic of us on our date.
After dinner Daddy went to his sleep test. Peanut and I made a little trip to Target to shop for Legos or Star Wars or even some Star Wars Legos. We or I should say, Peanut, lucked up and we found the perfect item to complete our fun night.  While he watched some "kid shows" on Disney, I  put together this little bit of fun...
I think it turned out well. Peanut loved it and I am not ashamed to admit that putting Legos together is quite fun. I even text the Coach and told him I wanted my own Legos to play with. hahaha Not sure he took me all that serious!
Since we went to Target and let Peanut shop, he agreed that a trip to Starbucks was a nice treat for Mom. I am loving their new Blonde roast.

I let Peanut get a shortie. Don't worry, he didn't even drink it all and because of our super busy evening he wasn't up for too much cuddling liek we had planned. I think he fell asleep almost as soon as his little head hit the pillow!

I had a fun fun night with just my little guy. We don't get to have much one on one time with either kid and I enjoyed every minute of it. I sure hope Peanut did, too!

Weekend Randoms

~ Long time no blogging. How many times do I say that anymore??? I feel like I have ran out of blogging material or inspiration. Bummer. But I am going to try hard at getting better at that. I'd love to say I was going to participate in the Project 365 posts but I have yet to take daily pics of my family doing fun things. I suppose I could pick up on that and just start where I can?

~ It's already Girl Scout cookie time. Crazy how that started so soon this year. I feel like I was totally unprepared for it this year but so far things are going well enough.

~ I have a crazy confession. My Christmas tree is still up and decorated. Yes, I swear you read that right. Can you say lazy?? I got my mantel and all the other Christmas decor down the day after New Year's but the tree not so much. You see, I cover that thing in a bag or so of fake snow. It's a mess and I dread all the sweeping that will take place once the tree is down.

~ I wish it was a long weekend for me. My family is off Monday for MLK day. I wish I was. Bummer. Perhaps if I was that dumb tree would come down! ha

~ Annabelle is having a sleepover! Her and her friend are having spa time and rubbing my feet down with lotion. The lotion is cold but my feet are worn out and it feels nice at least. Since I started running my feet are ugly and it's been a while since I have let anyone touch them.

~ I got a Kindle for Christmas. I have loved reading and playing games on it. It stays charged forever. Tonight is the first time I have had to charge it since I got it. Now either I am not using it/reading enough or that battery rocks.

~ It is still football time in the Emert house. We have watched more Pro football this year than any other year I can recall.
I can't report a lot on that but we have been watching football.

~ Ok, as you can tell my weekend is less than impressive. ha ha Soon, I promise...back to good blogging soon!
